bullet Reverand Jacob JOHNSON(1) was born on Apr 7 1713 in Wallingford, Connecticut. He died on Mar 15 1797 in Wilkes- Barre, Pennsylvania. Jacob's biography is given in Dexter's Graduates of Yale. Rev. Jacob Johnson's monument at Wilkes-Barre Penn. has the following epitaph, "Rev. Jacob Jonhson, A.M. Born at Wallingford, Conn., April 7, 1713 Died at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., March 15, 1797. Graduated at Yale College, 1740. Pastor of Congregational Church, Groton,Conn., 1749-1772. First pastor of Wilkes-Barre Congregational (subsequently First Presbyterian) 1772-1797. He made missionary journeys to the Six Nations. Preaching in the Indian language. He was an early and outspoken advocate of American liberty and a commanding figure in the early history of Wyoming. He wrote the articles of capitulation following the destruction of the infant settlement by the British and Indians in 1778 and was a firm and self-sacrificing defender of the Connecticut title throughout the prolonged land contest." bullet William JOHNSON(2) (3) died in 1716 in New Haven. William Johnson of Wallingford, Conn., emigrated to America presumably about 1660, and settled at New Haven. In Dec, 1664 he married Sarah. He was one of the founders or original proprietors of Wallingford in 1670 and one of the signers of the compact. In the town records of New Haven he is sometimes mentioned as "Wingle" Johnson and is recorded as "husbandman" and "planter". His will is recorded at New Haven.

He had assigned him a lot, bounded as follows: "20 rods wide north and south, 19 rods and 4 ft. east and west, and bounded east by y street, and north by Jeremiah How, and west by Nathan Andrews." This piece of land he sold, with consent of his wife Sarah Hall, to Isaac Curtis, in 1694. William does not appear to have ever had a residence in Wallingford, but was simply a subscriber for the benefit of his heirs who might settle in the place.
